Distant Learning

Good evening everyone,

I hope and pray this message finds you doing well. Please make sure to read this message in it's entirety and pass the word along to all involved with our program. I will also be posting this message out on my school website, as well as the band website so that as many can see it as possible. If you know of any parents who have not signed up for this app, it is crucial that we get them signed up. Thank you for your help with this!

As we prepare for a new week, educating our students is going to get a lot more interesting. I want to start by thanking you for your patience. We have been hard at work setting up our networks with as many educational tools that we can supply your children with during this difficult time.

1) I would like to strongly encourage all students to access their school email accounts. Every student, grades 6-12 has been set up with a school email address. If you have never logged in to your student email account or need help doing so, we have help! Go to https://dcm.desotocountyschools.org/ simply click the "student email help" link to get started.

2) On Wednesday, March 25 I will be posting assignments in multiple places. We will post our assignments on both teacher webpages on Desoto Central Middle School's webpage, on the Band App, and on the dcmsband.org webpage. All of these assignments will be posted by 3:00 p.m. CST.

3) There are many ways in which we will be communicating with you and your students during our Distant Learning Adventure. I advise checking our teacher webpages, the band app, and our band website daily for any updated information. Moving forward, we will also be utilizing a tool called Microsoft Teams. Many teachers and administrators in the county are using this tool to communicate with each other virtually. We will only be sending pre-recorded videos and feedback. We will relay more information on this tech soon.

4) If for some reason your child will be unable to access the internet regularly at home, I need you to send me an email using tyler.hart@dcsms,org. Using this information, we will be notifying our county office so that paper copies of all assignments can be made for you. Please let me know ASAP if this is something you require.

Ultimately, we don't want anyone stressing over these assignments. All of these assignments are meant to keep your "chops" in shape and to have some fun. Music is meant to make you happy, to relieve stress, and to be enjoyed by all. Take these assignments as an opportunity to have some fun, relax, and enjoy playing MUSIC.

Other than concerning internet problems, if you have any questions whatsoever about anything I have discussed or if you just want to send an awesome picture or video of your pet, please email us and we will be happy to help.

I look forward to sharing some music with you online. Miss you all! <3

Mr. Hart
